IS THE CUSTOMER KING, QUEEN & A MINI GOD? (JAPANESE PROVERB)

“The Customer is God” “Okyakusama wa kamisama desu” (Japanese Proverb)
Disclaimer: Note that this is not a religious post or royal, please read this 'Guest Post' with an open mind. "I love keeping an open mind. It's liberating to know the universe and our existence are not limited to my understanding" (Izey Victoria Odiase)

The Japanese have a saying "“Okyakusama wa kamisama desu” which translates into "the Customer is God".  This is a statement that for simple minds generates much contradiction however if you reflect on it with an open mind is there any iota of truth?

In your personal and business life you are a King or Queen, but there are other important kings and queens that should be recognised if they influence outcomes. For instance, as a self-employed entrepreneur, business owner, investor or an employee you remain the ultimate CEO of your life. However, the customer is King or Queen; without the customer, you will not have a business or a job. If you have customers, you have a business if you have no customers you have no business, and the company fails, which encourages the Japanese belief that the customer is an honoured guest and ‘the customer is a God’.

“Heaven is our home and earth is the marketplace, we are in constant passage between the two” (Ifa 7h Rule)

Furthermore, as an employee, you must plan how your career would progress, your promotions, how to engage with colleagues and team effectively, and how to manage and have an excellent relationship with your manager and others, to enjoy a quality work environment. Hence, if you are employed you may not be the CEO of the company, but you are the chief executive officer of your personal life, including the path of your professional life.

“There is only one boss. The customer. And he can fire everybody in the company from the chairman on down, simply by spending his money somewhere else” (Sam Walton)

A core dimension to remaining a winner and career CEO is to retain awareness that you are an entrepreneur, investor, manager, employer or employee but the ultimate boss is the client/customer. If consumers stop buying a company’s products and services that establishment may decline, falter, fall or fail because there will be no earnings to manage, operate, grow or pay employee salaries or dividend. This is why some call for total boycott of certain celebrities, goods, services, companies, institutions, countries that disrespect, maltreat or cause damage. Be the type of person or company that brings joy to the world! It is very important in your marketplace to accumulate, support, nurture and protect your customer base.

“Money is a by-product of a successful intrapreneurship or entrepreneurship career” (Dr Beem Beeka)

Clients can make or break a business, hence support the entrepreneurs in your location or family by continuously buying from their businesses. Instead of neglecting your community entrepreneurs how about you buy from them, so they can survive and continue to enhance their goods, services and assist to provide jobs and other development within your community.
Ultimately, alongside YOU, the customer may be considered a King, Queen, a mini God and the primary source and foundation of employment, consistent company revenue and riches. To keep a King or Queen happy, hail and provide quality products with  respectful and excellent customer service.

Don’t be swayed by those around you! Believe in yourself!
