A career is defined as any occupation undertaken for a period of time in one's life with progress opportunities. What is purpose? The reason something is done or a reason for existence. Therefore, are you operating in your purposeful career? This is the main career you enjoy and that which provides the best life satisfaction, it is your "WHY?" and main "CAREER IDENTITY". If you are yet to discover your ideal or purposeful career then keep searching you will know when you have met the one or maybe two!
The core of human existence includes finding
our purposeful career which goes beyond just working in any any available job. However, you can start with any available job until you discover the one. Steve Jobs advocates "Things don't have to change the world to be important". Your career choice may not change the world but your life is more important than just to work, work, work. Find what you love doing and life will have more meaning. Some operate in the mainstream status quo and enjoy it, while others operate out of the box away from dominant
culture. Each career decision is correct for the chooser.
This is your life and career so discover what is best for you. After setting career goals, you need a vehicle to travel to successfully arrive at your career destination. This vehicle represents choosing a path, profession and career sector to initially follow, learn, fail, win and grow. You can diversify at any point along the career journey (i.e., take a jet plane instead of a car) but a career vehicle/sector is required to identify, kick-start and actualise your career. Thus, ask and answer these questions below, and check if your current actions are demonstrating these:

Thus, ask and answer these questions below, and check if your current actions are demonstrating these:
- · What is your current job?
- · What career would you like to pursue?
- · Who do you want to become?
Katherine Whitehorn says "Find what you like doing and get someone to pay you for doing it". Therefore, find your passion and monetise it. Practically, there are three steps to choosing a career:
1. The first step to any
successful career choice is you must “decide” and
select a sector. You know what motivates you and can make the decision
about what you truly want and need in life. Try to make a definite choice about
the exact career you “want” focusing on who you want to “become”.
2. This step is your “why” and the motive for
selecting any specific career. For instance, will the chosen career actualise
your purpose? Will you enjoy this work? Will it ensure you never starve, prosper and multiply?
Will it provide independence? Etc.
1. Research: The first
step to any successful career is to research the selected job, career or
industry.
2. Reflect: Think about
your sector choice, figure out if this career decision is what you really want,
and can handle. If so, where and “when" should you start? "What" should you learn or study?
3. Plan: Develop a career
start-up plan. Find a way into the career today if you haven’t started in that
sector. Plan, learn from others or the Dr Beeka Academy below, get skilled and activate your dreams.
1. The third step to any
successful career is to Find a way “how” to become that which you have chosen. Activate
your career plan. Activate your career plan, build skills, experience and live your dreams.
2. What practical
behaviour, entrepreneurship or employability skills, knowledge, education,
vocational abilities, lessons, people, contacts, role models, networks, resources, work ethic, mentality and so on will enable you to achieve your
sector’s career goal?
3. What do you need to
know? What do you need to have? Who do you need to become? What do you need to
do consistently come rain or sunshine to become that which you have chosen and
decided to become? Find a way and just do it! Learn and keep at it. Live your core career identity.
A journey of ten thousand miles begins with a step in the right
direction. To make Red Velvet Cake, Rye bread or Jollof rice requires learning
and following recipes as first steps. If a person throws in any
ingredients without research they will likely not
achieve delicious purposeful outcomes. However, after following quality recipes initial tests and failures, you will
eventually become good and an expert. Therefore, get educated, gain experience and transferable skills.
The career choice process above steps one to three, show that with experience, evaluating your likes and dislikes, and understanding different sectors, career choices you will eventually discover your passionate and purposeful career. This defined career is first created in your gold mind (a brainchild) then
researched before started and operated. Similarly, wealth is first activated in your mind through an active imagination and definite decisions then achieved through focused and sustained practice.

He who has conquered doubt and
fear has conquered failure. His every thought is allied with power, and all
difficulties are bravely met and wisely overcome. His purposes are seasonably
planted, and they bloom and bring forth fruit, which does not fall prematurely
to the ground. (James Allen)
